What is OmniPhaseTM?
OmniPhaseTM is an ISO-13584 Parts Library (PLIB) standard based object-oriented Products/Parts Library Management System, developed and marketed by Toshiba Corporation. This system handles both "dictionary" (ontology/schema ) and "library" ( actual part/product spec-values) as exchangeable and replaceable data.
Unlike other "PLIB-like" systems, this system can read and write PLIB dictionary in ISO10303-21(so called "step file") format. Thus, any PLIB compliant dictionary available from ISO/IEC community would be added and read into the system without changing the database schema. This means, OmniPhase realises dynamic database schema evolution, adapting to the changing needs and requirements of product specification managements. In addition, not only the product specification, but also organisation/company information, and personnel information, and so on are handled in a consistent manner. Moreover, access to mainframe database from the system is also implemented beyond PLIB as a unique function of this system.
Thus the field of application of this system includes;
OmniPhaseTM boasts that it can query more than 1 million parts based on their property values and display the appropriate parts data in a few seconds, over network, while strictly implementing the requirements of ISO13584 Parts Library standard. This performance is unmatched by any PLIB compliant system in the world as of December 2003.
Moreover, it provides injection, editing, and updating of PLIB compliant product/parts data over Internet.
